Dog Bites & Knockdowns
It’s difficult for police officers to know when a dog is present or in the general vicinity of where they are conducting their work. Whenever police officers respond to house calls, walk through a neighborhood, or enter an unfamiliar property, they run the risk of encountering a dog. In most cases dogs are friendly, loyal, and approachable animals. However, in some cases, dogs are not friendly or are startled by unfamiliar faces. At Ballin & Associates, we represent police officers who have been chased, knockdown, or bitten by a dog. Our Massachusetts police injury attorneys are extremely familiar with the Massachusetts injury court system, and utilize our experience and expertise of the law to obtain compensation for our injured clients.

Throughout the years we have represented police officers who sustained an injury after:
  • Being bitten or attacked by a dog while responding to residence call
  • A dog darted out of a door while the officer was working nearby
  • The officer was chased and knocked down by the dog
Although the majority of dog bite injuries are minor—in that they don’t prevent the officer from returning to work—the scars from a bite or attack are often long lasting. In some cases, officers suffer from serious injuries to the knees, joints, and other parts of the body while running from, restraining or falling over these animals.

Dog owners have a legal and ethical responsibility to prevent their dogs from attacking other people. If a dog attacks, bites, chases or interferes with an officer, the owner may be held liable for damages. At Ballin & Associates, our Massachusetts police injury attorneys are dedicated to protecting our clients’ best interest, and helping them obtain the compensation they deserve. We are 100% committed to providing our clients with viable resources, individualized attention, and unparalleled representation. Furthermore, we are dedicated to building solid cases, and negotiating with the other parties involved to recover a fair recovery for our clients.
